It is the second temporary circuit of the 2021 IndyLights Presented by Cooper Tires season and Global Racing Group with HMD Motorsports looks to continue their success. With race wins and podium results already on their 2021 resume, the Detroit Grand Prix is the next challenge this weekend for Benjamin Pedersen and Linus Lundqvist.

“As a team, we are really looking forward to the Streets of Belle Isle as it is a new track for not only our program, but every IndyLights driver competing this weekend,” explained Global Racing Group’s Christian Pedersen. “We have two good drivers, a great team and solid equipment and will be aiming for the top step of the podium in both rounds seven and eight.”

Courtesy of two race wins and multiple podiums this season, Lundqvist enters the event second in the championship behind his HMD Motorsports teammate, David Malukas. Pedersen has earned one podium result and is eighth in the title chase, a scant thirteen points from the fifth position.

The Streets of Belle Isle and Detroit Grand Prix will present a new challenge for the GRG outfit as it will be their first time competing on the barrier lined circuit. Situated on the 982-acre island next to the Detroit River, the 2.35-mile circuit is uncharacteristically bumpy, a new challenge for the Lundqvist and Pedersen

On track action will begin on Friday morning with the one and only forty-minute practice session taking place at 9:50am before qualifying one goes green that afternoon at 2:30pm. Qualifying two will hit the track on Saturday morning at 9:30am with the first wheel-to-wheel action taking place at 12:10pm. Race two of the weekend and round eight of the IndyLights Presented by Cooper Tires will hit the track Sunday morning at 10:35am, just prior to the green flag of the NTT IndyCar Series event.
